On Tuesday 21 and Saturday 25, 2016, the Hospitaller Brothers of St John of God met the authorities of the Archdiocese of Lima, in order to foster familiarity with, and devotion to, the Venerable Francisco Camacho.

The Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God, through the Provincial Government of the Northern South American Province, held two meetings with the representatives of the Archdiocese of Lima to continue the work of promoting devotion to, and knowledge of the cause of the Venerable Francisco Camacho, known as the “Lima alms-beggar”.

Representing the Hospitaller Order were Brother William Pintado Saavedra, OH., Provincial Superior of the Northern South American Province, Brother José Daniel Hernández, OH., Superior of the Community of Brothers in Lima, while Brother Elia Tripaldi, OH., Postulator General of the hospital of the Order and BrotherMoisés Martín Boscá, OH., represented the General Curia of the OHSJD in Rome.

The Postulator General is the Brother responsible for causes of canonisation and beatification of the Hospitaller Order of St John of God; he accompanies the management of the documents referring to these causes and organises the dissemination of anything that is able to ensure their successful outcome. On this occasion our Province was visited by Brother Elia Tripaldi, OH, to perform this important mission.

During the first meeting on March 21, in the offices of the Archdiocese of Lima, the Hospitaller Brothers were received by Mgr Adriano Tomasi Travaglia, OFM., The Titular Bishop Obispo of Obbi and the Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Lima, together with Fr Armando Chico, personal secretary of Cardinal Juan Luis Cipriani, Archbishop of Lima and Primate of Peru.

The second meeting on Saturday 25, was held in the Archbishop’s Palace, in the Historic Centre of Lima where the Hospitaller Brothers dealt directly with matters regarding the promotion of the Venerable with Mgr Raúl Chau Quispe, Titular Archbishop of Aveia and Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Lima.

Let us pray that the cause of the Venerable Francisco Camacho, whose exemplary life devoted to the service of the most needy people, with special care for the sick, will complete the path to holiness, as an example of love and goodness throughout the Hospitaller Order.
