It was attended by the following members: representing UMICOI, Bro. Moisés Martín Boscá, and Bro.Giampietro Luzzato, for the St. John of God Development Company (IRELAND) Messrs. Also present were Mr. Dominique Soupe for the Missions Office and Dr. Vergés, President of the Friends of Afagnan et Tanguiéta Association.

Brother Fra Alain-Samuel took the floor in his capacity as Provincial Superior, and welcomed all the members to the French Province, thanking them for their commitment and the commitment of their associations, assisting the least. Brother Fortunée warmly welcomed everyone and wished them a successful meeting and a wonderful stay. The Director of UMICOI, Brother Moisés Martin Boscá, opened the meeting with spiritual input and then gave the floor to each of the associations and foundations asking them to report on their activities, and to update the meeting on progress with their projects since the last meeting in Naples.

Particular attention focused on the French Province’s Missions Office and all its activities which were also supported by Dr Vergés’s Friends of Afagnan and Tanguiéta Association which was celebrating its 20th anniversary.

The discussions, reflections and reports of the Associations produced a number of proposals and advice. Brother Moisés summed up the things that had been achieved since 2003 and how the Alliance had tried to meet the needs of all, while leaving each NGO with their own identity and independence. They were all working for one single common objective in the footsteps of our Founder Saint John of God, namely, to help our neighbour, seeking “to do good, well”. It was essential for the work of everyone to be transparent, and that they had to account for all the expenditure of the funds raised and allocated.

At the end of the meeting, the Superior General, Brother Jesús gave his best wishes for their work, always at the service of the poorest.

Lastly, Brother Moisés Martín Boscá expressed his gratitude to all the members and invited them to the next meeting scheduled to be held in the first few months of 2018.
