Hospitality Europe

   

On Tuesday, 5December, the General Curia hosted the second of the two 2017 meetings of theHospitality Europe Office in Brussels with the reference persons of theEuropean Provinces of the Order and the Sisters Hospitallers. More than 20representatives of the Provincial Curias attended the meeting which was calledto order by Brother Rudolf Knopp, the President of Hospitality Europe and of theOrder’s Europe Commission. 

Dr CarloGalasso reported on the work of the European Office over the previous six-monthperiod and on the the main cases being dealt with in the European institutions.He illustrated the funding proposals presented by the Provinces through the Office,and the possible European scenarios opening up following the Brexitnegotiations, which would also have repercussions on the future of the centresof the Order and the Sisters Hospitallers in the United Kingdom. 

Dr FrancescoVallebona - in his capacity of Co-worker at the Brussels office –illustratedthe programme of the European Commission in the fields of internationalcooperation and humanitarian assistance. He was followed by Brother Moisés Boscàand Sr Suor Josefa Hernández, who explained how the two Congregations had beenorganising themselves to coordinate their international cooperation anddevelopment activities.  

In theafternoon session, Mr Emili Bargalló (Aragon Province) explained the initiativebeing promoted by the Saint John of God Research Foundation to engage theactive involvement of the young patients in clinical research and trials of newpharmacological treatments and therapies. 

Brother Rudolfclosed the meeting and thanked all the reference persons for their attendanceand their active participation in the meeting, and announced that the 2018meetings would be held once again at the General Curia in Rome on Wednesday 6June and 5 December.
