Living hospitality means stepping out of one's comfort zone and saying yes to everything that opens one up to God and one's neighbour. This was the main theme of the General Canonical Visitation carried out in the Polish Province by General Councillor Brother Saji Mullankuzhy. The visit, which lasted two months, began on 11 May 2025 in Krakow and concluded with an assembly from 14 to 16 July in the "Księżówka" conference centre in Zakopane in which, together with Prior General Brother Pascal Ahodegnon and the Visitator, the Provincial Council, local Superiors and lay leaders of the Polish Province took part.
The Visitator General, Brother Saji Mullankuzhy, Sac., Second General Councillor and Provincial of the Order's Austrian Province, personally visited all the communities and facilities of the Province, with the exception of the Holy Family Hospital in Nazareth. He spoke with all the Brothers and numerous co-workers and clients.
Prior General Brother Pascal acted as moderator and gave many practical inputs on how to grow in the spirit of hospitality. He asked the Brothers to be flexible and available at all times. Every Brother can be an active companion for others, and a source of inspiration especially for the Co-workers, who together with the Brothers form the Family of St. John of God.
During the closing assembly, several workshops were organised to reflect on the conclusions of the visit and apply them to daily life. The Provincial, Brother Franziscek Salezy Chmiel, expressed his thanks on behalf of the 69 Brothers of the Polish Province and some 4,000 co-workers for the fraternal atmosphere and encouragement, and reaffirmed the Province's desire to read the signs of the times with the eyes of God.
