On August
10, a 7.4-magnitude earthquake was felt in several areas of Colombia.
In
communication with Provincial Brother Erik Castillo, it was reported that at
7:34 a.m. a strong earthquake occurred. Once the event was known, all
communities and centers throughout the country were contacted.
The
earthquake significantly affected the central region of the country. As a
result, the San Juan de Dios Clinic in Manizales was the most severely
affected, with damage to its physical infrastructure.
No injuries
have been reported among the Brothers, patients, or coworkers. Inquiries are
also being made with the families of coworkers members to determine whether
anyone has been affected and, if necessary, activate assistance channels.
The
Province will provide further updates once additional assessments have been
completed.
