The Africa Regional Commission

 

On 30 Apriland 2 May 2017 the Africa Regional Commission (CREA) held its annual meeting atAgoé-Nyivé Lomé (Togo), attended by Brothers Pascal AHODEGNON, André SENE,  Bartholomew KAMARA, Boniface SAMBIENI,Rodrigue DJITRINOU and Paulinus TOH.  BrotherMichael KOROMA could not attend because he was in Sierra Leone only on businessconnected with his mission.

The meetingopened with a prayer led by Brother Pascal AHODEGNON, President of theCommission who called to mind all the Brothers and Co-workers who were carryingforward the mission in Africa and in particular in the countries stricken bythe Ebola epidemic. He then prayed for the simple profession of several Brothersto be held on 1 May, the Solemnity of Saint Richard Pampuri, the Patron of theAfrican Vice-Province and the Novitiate.

As on otheroccasions, the Commission reviewed the life and mission of the Order in theregion and took stock of the work of the Province and the Vice Province in thelight of the Chapter priority lines of action, to evaluate what had been doneso far. This was followed by a follow-up review of the resolutions adopted by CREAat the last meeting, and the work of the regional subcommissions. The meetingwas then briefed on the Canonical Visitations conducted in the Region, thepreparatory work for the conferences and Provincial Chapters which will be heldin 2018, and the 2019 General Chapter.

On 1 May, themembers of the CREA attended the celebration in honour of Saint Richard Pampuri,as the Patron of the Vice Province and the Lomé Interprovincial Novitiate(Togo) in the course of which six Brothers made their simple vows in the HospitallerFamily of St John of God, and another seven young men entered the Novitiate.
