On August 1,
the worlds of medicine, culture, and politics lost a prominent figure: Prof.
Romano Forleo. A man of extraordinary talent and dedication, Forleo was an
Italian gynecologist, sexologist, politician, and writer who left an indelible
mark on the history of healthcare and culture in our country.
There is no
need to dwell on his numerous positions and achievements, which are well known
to all. Suffice it to say that in 1972 he founded and directed the Obstetrics
and Gynecology Department of the San Giovanni Calibita Fatebenefratelli
Hospital in Rome for twenty-five years. Under his leadership, the department
established itself as a center of excellence recognized throughout the capital,
thanks to his expertise, passion, and ability to innovate.
Prof. Forleo,
an internationally renowned scholar and researcher, contributed significantly
to the development of gynecology and sexology, carrying out studies and
practices that improved the lives of many people.
But Romano
Forleo was not only a great doctor: he was also an excellent novelist, capable
of combining his professional experience with a deep literary sensibility. His
ability to tell stories and tackle complex issues with elegance and depth
enriched the Italian cultural landscape.
The entire
Order remembers him with affection and gratitude, not only for his skills and
achievements, but also for his humanity, his spirit of service, and his example
of integrity. His passing is a great loss, but his legacy will continue to
inspire generations of doctors, writers, and citizens.
Farewell,
Prof. Romano Forleo. Your memory will live on in the hearts of all those who
had the privilege of knowing you and being touched by your extraordinary
character.
