Meeting of the Africa Regional Commission

The Africa Regional Commission was convened on 29 and 30  April at Agoe-Nyive (Lomé, Togo), attended by Brother Pascal Ahodegnon, General Councillor responsible for animation in the Africa Region, Brother André Sène, Secretary-General, Brother Rodrigue Dijtrinoum Superior of the African Province of St Richard Pampuri and Brother Hugues Assou, Provincial Secretary, Brother Bartolomew Kamara, Superior of the African Province of St Augustine, Brother Donatus Forkan, Superior of the West European Province, Brother Paul Marie Taufana, Superior of the French Province, and two invited guests: Brother Michael Newman from Malawi and Brother Jean Guillaume from Madagascar.

The Commission addressed a number of issues relating to the life and missionary activities of the Order in this region. It also turned its attention to the various stages of initial formation, particularly the Interprovincial Novitiate in Lomé and the Interprovincial Scholasticate in Nairobi and discussed the challenges to be taken up in this area.

The meeting then reviewed the various regional subcommissions and the possibilities that existed for cooperation between the Provinces in the region in the areas of formation and the apostolic mission. The meeting adjourned, looking forward to the next Commission meeting in Rome in September.
