The Ceremony of First Profession and Thanksgiving Mass

On December 07 .2019 in the morning, at the Chapel of Province Of The Blessed Mary Of The Holy Spirit - Vietnam held a Thanksgiving Mass for novice Martino Dam Vu Hai, who took the first vows after completing the formation program at the Asia-Pacific Commission (APC) in the Philippines.

The Mass was officiated by Fr. Anthony Nguyen Chan Hong, First Provincial Counsel. At the time of the Eucharist, there was the presence of the brothers in the province, the guests, the relatives, benefactors, religious and the laity in attendance.

At the beginning of the Mass, the celebrant invites the community to join in the thanksgiving of the Lord for the Church, and the Order has new vocations that generously offer themselves to the Lord in the consecrated life. Today is also a meaningful day when the Church celebrates the feast day of Saint Ambrose bishop - Doctor of the Church. May today's new profess brother would imitate the example of Saint Ambrose, who wants to live up to his position, he has given everything, lived a simple life, devoted his heart and energy in order to serve the people of God.

Following the homily is the profession. The novice was free to express his commitment to dedicating himself to God through the vows of Chastity, Poverty, Obedience, and hospitality, before brother Provincial Joseph Vuong Hoai Duc - Representative of  Fr. General Superior Jesus Etayo, Brothers in the Order and before the people.

From now on, by making the vows, he will be consecrated once more, to become a hospitaller brother, to be more deeply integrated with his intimacy with God, with the Church and the Order, so that he is free and to be able to carry out the role of a witness of the world, and to imitate the way that Christ lived in serving people and proclaiming the Good News.

Starting with this commitment, wishing that he would keep in mind what our constitutions is reminding us that, We dedicate ourselves with joy to helping those who suffer, with those attitudes and actions which characterize the Brother of Saint John of God: humble, patient and responsible service; respect form and faithfulness to, the person; understanding, lovingkindness and self-denial; sharing in the anxieties and hopes of those who suffer (constitution 3).

We need to give thanks to the Lord for so many gifts He constantly gives down on our Order, for  each of us, especially for the newly professed brother who has taken the vows today. May he experience an even more abundant love of the Lord pouring down in his consecrated life.

The commitment of the newly professed brother is the first response to a continuous journey of response to the call from god. May he always choose God and be faithful to his commitment today.
