Provincial Conference
Jubilee of the Sick and the Health World
From
5 to 8 May 2025, the Province of Saint Richard Pampuri of Africa held its
provincial conference at the Saint John of God Hospital in Afagnan (TOGO), in a
spirit of fraternity, synodality and discernment. This major event brought
together 35 participants, including brothers and coworkers committed to the
Order's mission.
The
conference was chaired by Brother Étienne SENE, General Councillor in charge of
the African region, in the presence of Brother Hugues ASSOU, the Provincial
Superior and his Council. The presence
of the General Councillor was a strong sign of encouragement and communion with
the General Government. Brother Paulinus Toh Kisam, the Provincial Superior of
the Province of Saint Augustine in Africa, also took an active part,
contributing to the exchanges and joint reflection.
The
main objective of this meeting was to carry out a mid-term evaluation of the
activities linked to the management of the communities and apostolic works of
the Province. In an atmosphere of fraternal dialogue, the participants analysed
the progress made, the challenges encountered and the perspectives to be
envisaged for a service that is ever more faithful to and consistent with the
hospitaller charism.
A
number of areas for consolidation were identified, particularly in the areas of
training, community leadership, management of works and collaboration with the
laity. The conference was also an important time for prayer and renewing our
common commitment to serving the most vulnerable.
This
stage of evaluation marks an important turning point in the Province's journey,
in preparation for future directions and renewed fidelity to the mission
entrusted to it.
Finally,
the Conference ended with the celebration of the Jubilee of the Sick and the
World of Health, whose activities began on Friday 9 May and culminated on
Sunday 11 May with a Pontifical Mass presided over by Bishop Isaac Jogues GAGLO
of Aného.
