The America Region of the Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God.

Zapopan, Mexico, August 6 –7, 2025.

With the participation of the Provincial Brothers and members of the working commissions, an in-person meeting of the America Region of the Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God was held in Zapopan, continuing the path begun several months ago.

In April of this year, the Provincial Superiors of Latin America and the Caribbean, along with those of the Province of the Good Shepherd (United States East Coast and Canada) and the Province of Los Angeles, met virtually to formally establish the America Region. Since then, a common project has been under development, fully aligned with the Declarations of the 70th General Chapter of the Order, held in Czestochowa in 2024, and charting the course for the period 2025–2031.

During the gathering in Mexico, participants delved into the four core objectives of this project:

·         To strengthen communication and exchange experiences.

·         To promote the shared mission.

·         To deepen formation in Hospitaller spirituality and charismatic leadership.

·         To offer holistic accompaniment to elder Brothers.

The methodology adopted was Theory U, which enabled participants to reflect on the journey thus far, to observe current challenges, and to open themselves to envision new forms of charismatic governance and collaborative mission.

In dialogue circles, concrete proposals were developed around interprovincial communication, formation through the School of Hospitality, accompaniment for elder Brothers, and pilot experiences of shared mission.

The spirit that inspired these days was summed up in the conviction that “the future of hospitality emerges through communion and takes shape in concrete actions of shared mission.”

Likewise, the importance of leading from the hospitaller heart in the 21st century was emphasized—a form of leadership that, while managing structures and processes, is fundamentally lived as a vocation of service, integrating three inseparable dimensions: being a brother-collaborator, a bearer of meaning, and a steward of the common good.

Through this encounter, the America Region reaffirms its identity as a fraternal bridge between provinces, a space of discernment and joint action, so that hospitality may continue to be in our time a prophetic, human, and transformative sign.
