During the 145th Chapter of the Roman Province, held at the community of the St. John of God Institute in Genzano di Roma, the Capitulars elected Fr. Raffaele Benemerito as Provincial Superior, the first superior coming from the Philippines.

The election took place in the presence of the Superior General, Fr. Pascal Ahodegnon, and the General Councilor, Fr. Joaquim Erra, who accompanied the capitular proceedings from the beginning.

The religious members and collaborators present expressed their gratitude to the Lord for the gift of a new Provincial, entrusting him with the task of guiding the Province with evangelical wisdom and a spirit of Hospitality, in the legacy of St. John of God.
