Visit of Pope Leo XIV to Equatorial Guinea

During his visit to Equatorial Guinea, the Pope calls for “greater freedom” in the country.

The Diocese of Mongomo gives thanks to the Lord for the apostolic visit of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV to Equatorial Guinea, an event of grace that has strengthened the Church in faith, hope, and charity, and invited the entire nation to walk in the light of Christ toward a future of peace, justice, and reconciliation.

The Holy Father recalled that true peace is not born solely from human structures, but from a heart enlightened by God, converted to the truth and oriented toward the common good. Therefore, he exhorted the faithful, families, and public officials to allow Christ to transform history and renew social relationships.

In this same spirit, the Pope blessed the cornerstone of the Church of Peace in the City of Peace, the new capital of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea. This gesture demonstrates that every lasting work must be founded on God, and that the Church is called, above all, to build up a holy people, united in faith and open to mission.

Our local Church welcomes this visit as a true kairos, a favorable time to rekindle baptismal fidelity, strengthen ecclesial communion, and renew commitment to the Gospel, at the service of the poor, human dignity, and peace.

We entrust the fruits of this visit to the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, so that Equatorial Guinea may grow in a lasting peace, founded on truth, strengthened by justice, and enlivened by the charity of Christ.
