I am a psychologist working with people with disabilities in pavilions 3 and 6, which are widely different from one another. Pavilion 3 is for patients with moderate to serious mental problems associated with serious behavioural problems; number 6 is for patients with moderate psychological disabilities associated with behavioural problems and difficulties with social interaction. But in each case, they have a high level of activity participation.

We work with families, too, when the therapeutic team considers it necessary or when the patients’ own families request help. Obviously this can be done in specific situations when working with an issue, trying to resolve it, and that is that. But in these interviews there frequently arise issues that cannot be dealt with, ones that the family members have not solved or discussed, and questions about people with elderly parents and … what will happen next?... Expectations that can lead to frustration or irritation, ignorance, the limitations giving rise to the inability to discuss, that they feel to be difficult or “ashamed of”, making people continue to harbour a sense of guilt.
